THE PARKLIFE WITH A WALK WITH A DIFFERENCE THROUGH
CANNON HILL PARK
Walk
With Me has been written and created created by
Kate Chapman and Charlotte Goodwin with music
by Nina West.
It consists
of a series of guided walks through Cannon Hill
Park with accompanying audio sequence of music,
monologues, interviews and sounds on a CD walkman.
Walk
With Me is based on interviews with people who
make regular journeys through the park, drawing
on their experiences, stories and observations.
There are
three different routes and each lasts about twenty
five minutes. They all begin and end at Mac and
are guided so there is no danger of getting lost!
The walks are not strenuous and one route is suitable
for wheelchairs and those of limited mobility.

RED
LIGHT RITES
Simon
Andrew Stirling's new pair of farces, Rites, are
going down a storm in the Midlands.
These
village-based comedies are a heady brew of Morris
Dancing, Bell Ringing, marital aids and conjugal
rights and wrongs. Said to be mildly anarchic
and deliciously naughty, this is a brand new outdoor
production from Worcestershire's newest theatre
company, Red Light.
Catch
it between 19- 25 August at various venues in
Worcestershire.

BLACK
COUNTRY WRITER TELLS STORY OF WALSALL'S WAR
In September, Walsall Arboretum
will be the open-air venue for a spectacular new
community play.
This is
Walsall's first open air community production
and its producers are promising an hour and a
half of music, dance and action.
Walsall's
War is the dramatisation of the story of the people
of Walsall who lived through the conflict or World
War II. With a cast of locals, musicians and dancers,
over a hundred people will take part.
Written
by Walsall writer David Calcutt, the show has
been crafted in conjunction with the local History
Centre, Museum and Libraries.

PANZ
2005 FULL LENGTH PLAYWRITING COMPETITION
The
Playwrights Association Of New Zealand is calling
for entries to the Jo Ann Prevett Travel Playwriting
Competition.
They are
looking for scripts of 80-120 minutes length,
on any subject, suitable for stage production.
There is
a cash prize of $500, although non members of
PANZ can only enter with payment of a $40 entrance
fee.

PUPPET
INTRIGUE?
The
Puppet Centre Trust in London, a national development
agency for the artform of puppetry, is running
an exploratory commissions project, designed to
explore the ways puppetry and new writing can
collaborate.
The Moving Words project will be initiated
by a workshop for writers and puppetry artists
exploring some of the methodologies of writing
for puppetry and using puppetry to develop new
writing.
These will
be held on 12 September, and anyone wishing to
submit a tender is encouraged to attend.
Deadline
for tenders for the commissions is 5pm on 24 September.

LARRY
CORSE PRIZE FOR PLAYWRITING
Columbus
State University Theatre launches the third International
Playwriting Competition.
Last year
this competition received 325 entries from twelve
countries. The prize fund is $1,000 and the winning
play will receive a production by Columbus State
University Theatre.
All plays
should be 45-120 minutes, previously unpublished
and anonymous.
Entries
must include contact information and a signed
statement saying that the play is unproduced.

RADIO
BI-LINGUAL
WRITERS SOUGHT FOR RADIO DRAMA
Moving
Theatre is seeking fully bi-lingual writers or
writing teams for a series of 6 thirty minute
radio dramas.
In conjunction
with RTE Lyric FM (Eire), radio Romania International
and SRA (Austria) the pieces will be based upon
or taken from the stories of major operatic heroines.
They
are not looking for translations but with the
bilingualism woven into the structure of the piece
so that a listener in either language could follow.
Languages used are likely to be: English, German,
Romanian, Italian and French.

ANGELES OPENS DOORS FOR BRITISH TALENT
An
L.A production company is making a rare call for
British writers to submit ideas.
IDT
Entertainment are looking for "family entertainment
with comedy and heart" in their new digital
feature animation division.
Seeking
to tap into the British sense of humour and emulate
the style of British writers such as Rob Sprackling
and John Smith, they are looking for something
in the Pixar genre.
