SCRIPT NEWS - December 2004

A SEASON OF NEW PLAYS FROM FOURSIGHT THEATRE - SPRING 2005 - THE RESULTS OF THE PAGE TO STAGE SCHEME

In February and March, Foursight Theatre will be working with two women writers from the West Midlands region in the development of two new plays, taking the scripts from page to stage for three performances at the Newhampton Arts Centre Theatre, Wolverhampton. Foursight Theatre collaborated with SCRIPT to find these new plays.

THE PLAYS:

Home Sweet Home by Penni Gillis

Two elderly sisters, Glad and Marge, spend their final days in a nursing home, caught up in a banter about knickers, lovers, life and death. Each has a secret they long to share, but the home is to be closed and the clock is ticking...

Welcome to my World by Christine Watkins

In a small windswept house, Ada packs away her dead mother's wordly goods, mostly composed of old Country records.

It shouldn't take long - but the woman at the window is trying to get in, and the Jim Reeves tribute band that lives in the cupboard under the stairs won't go quietly...

Performances will take place on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th March 2005 at 7.30pm.

Venue: The Newhampton Arts Centre Theatre, Dunkley Street, Wolverhampton

Tickets will be on sale after Christmas priced £7/£5 concessions.

Please call the Foursight office on 01902 714257 for further details or email them at foursight.theatre@boltblue.com

SMALL SCREEN VISIONS - THE FINAL SELECTION OF WRITERS IS ANNOUNCED

The writers who will be developed through to the final stages of the scheme are: Helen Brady, Helen Cross, Andy Higgitt, Ali Oxtoby and Arzhang Pezhman.

All five will now work with mentors, Claire Lees Ingham of Fat Cat Productions and writer and Script Developer, Anne Langley, to take their ideas from treatment to first draft. By the end of the scheme they will each have a script that they can use as a strong 'calling card'  to approach the industry with.
