BRICKS
& MORTAR
Hall
for Cornwall are launching a new project to offer
playwrights a chance to develop skills individually
and as a group. Bricks & Mortar is a
training opportunity for playwrights designed

a programme of seminars led by playwrights, dramaturgs
and directors, Bricks & Mortar will encourage
participants to explore how their birth culture(s)
and current cuture(s) affect their writing. Towards
the end of the project, Hall for Cornwall will
create an experimental laboratory where writers
will work with performers and directors in an
informal setting to progress their ideas practically,
in the rehearsal room. The project will take place
from March to mid-December 2008. Please note that
this opportunity is only available to those living
in the South West.

revives its commitment to local writing with two
radically different but thematically linked plays.
In Forgive Us Our Trespasses by Elizabeth
Parkes, MP's wife Anna Carruthers struggles to
come to terms with the impending release of the
man who murdered her husband. In Tidy
by Martin Drury, Joy Baxter struggles to
come to terms with her life, her marriage and
her dreams. Both women have daughters.
Both daughters have secrets. Neither family
will ever be the same again. But only photographs
live in the past. Two plays about guilt,
forgiveness and love. Two plays also about
New Labour, model aeroplanes and Barry Manilow.

EYE
OF THE STORM SEEKS BIRMINGHAM-BASED PROJECT MANAGER
Eye
of the Storm is a major new digital media project
that will be co-created with members of the public
in Birmingham during 2008. The project will explore
how a diverse range of people balance their lives
in this increasingly globalised and chaotic world.
People from Birmingham will tell of their personal
stories, documenting how and where they find peace
and fulfilment in today's world: the ‘calm' within
the ‘storm'. This content will grow to form a
multi-media art installation in the centre of
Birmingham designed and developed by international
VJ artist and filmmaker Marc Silver. We
are looking for a Birmingham-based project manager
to co-ordinate the project on the ground, working
with Eye of the Storm production company Germination
to deliver certain phases of the project. Germination
is based in London and though we will be in Birmingham
for definite periods, we are looking for a project
manager with a great knowledge of Birmingham and
local contacts to run operations on the ground.
Please
email expressions of interest to: grace@germination.co.uk
detailing relevant experience, and reasons for
applying for the position. In addition, candidates
must supply contact details and a copy of their
CV.
Deadline:
February 27th 2008.
Interviews
will be held in Birmingham on the 4th & 5th
March 2008, location to be arranged.
