BRICKS & MORTAR

Hall for Cornwall are launching a new project to offer playwrights a chance to develop skills individually and as a group.  Bricks & Mortar is a training opportunity for playwrights designed to help individuals based in the South West to question their approach to playwriting through an intensive programme of activities and research.  At the heart of Bricks & Mortar is the question of how far you understand the impact of your culture on your work, how far are you in synthesis with it, and how far do you challenge it?

Towards the end of the project, Hall for Cornwall will create an experimental laboratory where writers will work with performers and directors in an informal setting to progress their ideas practically, in the rehearsal room. The project will take place from March to mid-December 2008. Please note that this opportunity is only available to those living in the South West.

If you would like to be considered, please sent the following information to: Frances Macadam, Projects Administrator, Hall for Cornwall, BAck Quay, Truro, TR1 2LL

- how where you live now has influenced your writing

2. Please send a CV (no more than 1 page)

3. Please send a sample of recent work (no more than 4 pages)

EYE OF THE STORM SEEKS BIRMINGHAM-BASED PROJECT MANAGER

Eye of the Storm is a major new digital media project that will be co-created with members of the public in Birmingham during 2008. The project will explore how a diverse range of people balance their lives in this increasingly globalised and chaotic world. People from Birmingham will tell of their personal stories, documenting how and where they find peace and fulfilment in today's world: the ‘calm' within the ‘storm'. This content will grow to form a multi-media art installation in the centre of Birmingham designed and developed by international VJ artist and filmmaker Marc Silver.  We are looking for a Birmingham-based project manager to co-ordinate the project on the ground, working with Eye of the Storm production company Germination to deliver certain phases of the project. Germination is based in London and though we will be in Birmingham for definite periods, we are looking for a project manager with a great knowledge of Birmingham and local contacts to run operations on the ground.

Please email expressions of interest to: grace@germination.co.uk detailing relevant experience, and reasons for applying for the position. In addition, candidates must supply contact details and a copy of their CV.

Deadline: February 27th 2008.

Interviews will be held in Birmingham on the 4th & 5th March 2008, location to be arranged.
