ROOM
TO RENT - MAC Cinema, Sunday 21 November
at 8.30pm
This
popular MAC cinema strand celebrates the West
Midlands' film community.
In this
programme, the spolight falls on the Cairo born
and Birmingham based writer and director, Khaled
El Hagar, who has notched up many international
awards for his challenging movies. MAC will be
screening his feature films, Little Dreams
(1993) and Room to Rent (2001).
Khaled
has developed a distinctive visual look, which
at times - in his films, Room to Rent and
Women's Love - has drawn favourable comparison
with that of the Spanish director, Pedro Almodovar.
A Birmingham resident for 14 years, and a mentor
to many new film makers, Khaled recently represented
Birmingham (and Egypt) at the London International
Film Festival when his new movie, Women's
LoveI, was premiered.
