BOARD MEMBERS:
Nicholas
McInerny (Chair)
Since
1984 Nicholas has had work produced for stage,
radio, TV and film. He also has extensive experience
of mentoring writers and has taught at Bournemouth
University and Oxford University Department for
Continual Education. He was Creative Arts Fellow
at Wolfson College, Oxford from 1997-2000 and
is currently External Moderator for the University
of East Anglia MA in Creative Writing.
Claire Cochrane (Vice Chair)
Lecturer
in Drama and Performance Studies at Worcester
University, currently teaching a masters level
module on new writing which prioritises the work
of West Midlands’ playwrights within the
national context. Claire is also the historian
of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and her book
Birmingham Rep: A City’s Theatre 1962-2002
was published by the Sir Barry Jackson trust.
Karen Preece (Treasurer)
Director of Finance and Company Secretary for
Solihull Community Housing Ltd. Karen is a keen
theatregoer and a voracious reader of fiction
and non-fiction, with a particular interest in
renaissance history. She’s also founder
member of the Customer Circle at the Birmingham
Repertory Theatre, Associate member of the RSC
and Friend of Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Yvonne
Brissett
Short-story, radio and screenplay writer
who is currently directing a digital short film
adapted from her original short story The Darkest
Hour, which was previously adapted for radio.
She has co-edited a collection of short stories
‘Whispers in the Walls’ (pub. Tindall
Street). She is a BBC News and Current Affairs
journalist in Birmingham.
Maeve
Clarke
Maeve
is currently working as European Summer University
(ESU) Development Officer for Birmingham City
Council and is Writer in Residence at Birmingham
Voluntary Skills Council. Her novel, What Goes
Round, was published by Tindal Street Press in
2003.
Ellie
Parker
In
1999 Ellie founded New Theatre Works as the resident
theatre company at the Courtyard Centre for the
Arts in Hereford. The company produces rehearsed
readings and showcases as well as productions
of new plays in theatres and as site-specific
pieces. Recently NTW has begun working internationally.
She works as a producer, director, actor and proselytiser

Amanda
Roberts
Amanda has a broad range of commissioning, programming
and producing experience across dance, theatre
and literature. She is currently an Associate
Producer at Birmingham Rep where her role is to
commission, develop and co-produce new text based
theatre, working with culturally diverse regional,
national and international writers, artists and
companies. She is also a board member of Theatre
Writing Partnership and Red Earth Theatre Company.
Alison Sutcliffe
Alison is the Bridge Project Director at the Bridge
House Theatre, Warwick. She has extensive experience
of theatre directing, including a long association
with the RSC. As a writer, her radio play, The
Warwickshire Scandal, was broadcast on BBC Radio
4 in 2003.
