BIG SCRIPT - Big Script meets
at the mac (Midlands Arts Centre) on alternate
Thursday evenings to work on scripts-in-progress.
These may be written for stage, film, radio or
TV. Each member is given the opportunity to present
a script for reading and group feedback which
will continue for as long as the writer feels
necessary. Within the mixed membership of 18 there
is a range of age and experience but no-one is
a complete beginner.
We welcome
enquirires from anyone who might be interested
in joining the group. We will ask to see an example
of work from potential members, such as a full-length
script or 10 pages of a work in progress together
with a synopsis. Further information from Doreen
Gray (Secretary) - 0121 449 2569.
NEW
CITY PLAYWRIGHTS (NCP) - are Wolverhampton-based
and proud of it. But we're not parochial!
We encourage
people to join us even if they are beginners.
Support from the group will aim to develop your
confidence and skills.
However,
we are also serious about our work being staged
or broadcast; we have had several productions
since forming e.g. at the University of Wolverhampton's
Arena Theatre. More experienced/confident writers
will want to know that we are creating opportunities
quite fast now: we are presenting an Autumn season
of our work at Bantock House, and are also collaborating
with Wolverhampton Art Gallery on a series of
short, site-specific pieces for their Pop Art
Wing opening.
We meet
on the second Saturday of each month (except August)
at Bantock House Museum, Wolverhampton, 11am-1pm.
We look forward to seeing you.
postSCRIPT
is a writing group that meets in Birmingham
on alternate Tuesdays. It covers writing for the
stage, television, radio and film. We have around
a dozen members but are always on the lookout
for new people.
It is a mutually supportive group.
Scripts are passed around and improvements suggested.
We also have regular readings with actors and
plan to stage work in the near future. The group
was founded in September 2003 and members have
found it to be helpful in encouraging their writing.
We currently
meet at the Old Joint Stock in Birmingham. If
anyone is interested in joining, please contact
David Hendon on 07766 838 594 or email david.hendon@talk21.com
STRATFORD
PLAYWRIGHTS was formed in January 2001.
We are a group concerned with writing plays and
taking them through to production.
We read
and discuss members' work at our meetings which
are now held quarterly in central, but varying,
venues in Stratford.

SWAN
PLAYWRIGHTS - We are a playwriting group
which started at the Worcester Swan Theatre and
is now based at The Rose Theatre in Kidderminster.
We welcome potential members of varying experience
who are prepared to meet new creative challenges
and want to see their work on stage. We work with
a network of professional and community talent
to produce original work for the theatre and promote
new writing. Interested in extending our numbers
we ask that members commit to the business of
the work of the group as a whole as well as writing
for themselves. We also look for help with sound/lighting,
stage management and publicity.
Meetings
are held monthly in the bar at The Rose, where
we combine workshops with news of writing competitions
and opportunities. Our plays are produced at The
Rose, festivals and exhibitions, as well as a
variety of satellite venues and have been recorded
as audio tapes for the visually impaired.
Our
annual membership fee is £10 (£7 concs),
with a £2 contribution per meeting. Visit
